On November 3rd, 2011 CAPTAIN Youth and Family Services of Saratoga County is hosting its first annual Scrabble Night fundraiser to raise awareness for Runaway and Homeless Youth in our community.

November is National Runaway Prevention Month and CAPTAIN would like to take the opportunity to share with the community our Youth shelter program and its amenities. The Youth shelter, located in Malta NY, has the capacity to house up to eight residents and provide them with services including the provision of food and clothing.  During their stay, other services may include tutoring and/or local school enrollments. Residents also receive life skills training including coaching and training in communications skills, health promotion, conflict management and goal setting. These programs have helped many families reunite and rebuild relationships within the home.

CAPTAIN encourages family unity and what better way to do so than a fun, family game night.  Scrabble is a great way for family members to come together, carry on conversations and build memories.  With help from our local community members, school staff and other shelter agencies we hope that this can be the start of a fun and educational fundraiser.

There will be teams of eight to ten people competing against other teams, but if you can only arrange a team of two to four then you will be teamed up with another team.  The cost per person is fifty dollars with dinner and drinks included.  Throughout the night there will be raffle drawings and prizes for the top three winners. Each grand prize winner will receive one Dome ticket for the Saratoga and North Creek Railway.
